12 COVID-19 patients in critical condition in Ghana

The condition of four COVID-19 patients have worsened in Ghana resulting in 12 persons in critical situation now, according to health officials.

Providing an update on the case count in the West African country, the Ghana Health Service said none of the patients in the severe bracket is on a ventilator.

The University of Ghana Medical Centre has admitted four of those in severe situation followed by the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital with three patients with the Ga East and 37 Hospitals admitting two each. The Ho Government Hospital is currently treating one critical person.

The death toll as of May 22, 2020 stands at 31.

About 217 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in Ghana bringing the country’s case count to 6,486.

According to figures posted on the Ghana Health Service‘s webpage 53 more people have recovered after testing negative, putting the total number of persons who have recovered from Covid-19 in Ghana at 1,951.

Regional breakdown

The Greater Accra Region is still leading the chart with 4,699 cases, followed by the Ashanti and Central Regions with 988 and 287 cases respectively.
