Christopher Boadi-Mensah has been named the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), effective January 23, 2025.

The announcement, made by the Office of the President, follows provisions outlined in Article 195(1) of Ghana’s Constitution and section 16(1) of the National Pensions Act, 2008 (Act 766). His appointment is contingent upon the constitutionally required advice of the NPRA’s governing board, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.

Taking charge at a pivotal moment, Boadi-Mensah will lead the NPRA in its mandate to regulate and monitor Ghana’s pension schemes. His duties will include ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, improving governance across pension schemes, and implementing policies that protect the retirement savings of workers.

He is also tasked with addressing critical issues in the pension sector, such as enhancing transparency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of pension funds.

The NPRA serves as a vital regulatory body overseeing trustees, pension fund managers, and schemes throughout Ghana. With Boadi-Mensah at the helm, there is anticipation of strengthened oversight, reforms, and initiatives to instill greater confidence in the sector.

Key stakeholders, including the Vice President, Chief of Staff, Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment, as well as the Board Chairpersons of the NPRA and the Public Services Commission, have been formally informed of his appointment.

Christopher Boadi-Mensah’s leadership is expected to bring a renewed focus on safeguarding workers’ retirement funds and addressing challenges within the pensions industry.
