A/R: 18-month-old baby girl and brother, 4, burnt to death

Two children have been burnt beyond recognition as a result of fire that gutted their house on Friday night.

Officers have identified the children as Zidan Razark, aged four and his 18-month-old sister Sharifatu Razark.

The incident which occurred at about 7:00pm saw many other properties destroyed in a seven-bedroom house located at Danoso New site in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Witnesses say the victims were asleep in one of the rooms where the fire was believed to have started.

Attempts by officers of the Ghana National Fire Service and bystanders to rescue the children who were trapped in the room proved futile.

Dailymailgh‘s Northern Sector Editor, Jonathan Ofori who was at the scene reports that the fire was brought under control by firefighters when officers from the Ejisu District Police Command arrived at the scene.

Family of the victims were seen wailing uncontrollably as police conveyed their charred bodies to the Living Waters Hospital morgue at Krapa, near Ejisu.

The disaster has caused a stir among residents as security officers ascertain the cause of the fire.
