Ghanaian leader Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to address the nation later today, ahead of the commencement of the compilation of a new Voter Register slated for tomorrow, June 30.
Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin confirmed the information on Sunday night but did not give any further information.
“The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo will on Monday address the nation ahead of the commencement of Tuesday’s registration exercise. The time for the address will be communicated in the course of the day,” Mr Arhin posted on Facebook.
EC speaks ahead of Voter Registration Exercise
With the Supreme Court case on the Voters Registration Exercise settled, Mrs Jean Mensa, the Chair of the Electoral Commission, will also address the nation at 1730hours on the same day.
A statement from the Chairperson’s Office said the briefing would focus on the Commission’s preparedness towards the registration.
It said the address would be aired on all major radio and television channels nationwide.
The EC is scheduled to hold the voter registration exercise from June 30 to August 6, nationwide, under a cluster system at 33,367 polling stations.
Some 16 million eligible voters are expected to be registered.
