A driver has been gunned down by armed robbers at Tanina, near the Upper West Regional capital, Wa.

The incident which occurred around 5:40 pm on Tuesday, also left two others with minor injuries.

The victims are based in Wa and also workers of Baah Enterprise Ltd.

They were onboard a KIA Rhino with registration number AW 7346- 14 — and were returning from Sawla to Wa, after distributing Guinness, police said in a statement.

“On reaching the outskirt of Tamina near Wa, two men suspected to be of Fulani extraction, suddenly emerged from the bush and robbed them of unspecified amount of money and mobile phones”, the statement further continued.

The attackers shot the driver and also damaged two offside tyres of the vehicle in the process and fled the scene.

The driver who sustained gunshot wounds on his left shoulder and left jaw was rushed to the Regional Hospital in Wa but was pronounced dead on arrival by medics.

Named as Prosper Naazale, 37, his body was deposited at the same hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Whiles investigations have commenced, the Upper West Regional Police Commander cautioned drivers to come for escort to safeguard life and property.
