Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, is to visit Anloga to honour an invitation by Togbe Sri III, paramount chief of the Anlo traditional area, to participate in this year’s Hogbetsotso festival.
He would be accompanied by a large number of chiefs from the Asante Kingdom to the Volta Region town.
It is gathered that the overlord of the Asante Kingdom will also interact with Asante natives living in the Anlo Community as well.
Head of University of Ghana’s Department of Dance Studies, Dr Sylvanus Kwashie, who made this disclosure said Otumfuo will grace the occasion as the special guest.
He noted that the invitation to the Asantehene is aimed at fostering a bond of unity between the Anlo state and Asante kingdom.
Other dignitaries, both home and abroad will also be part of the program.
The festival, Dr Kwashie indicated, is anchored on the agenda to assemble cultural heritage bodies to champion development goals of the Anlo state.
The Anlo Traditional Council and Hogbe Institute, organisers of the 2019 Hogbetsotso festival, also challenged the communities within the Anlo state to use the occasion as a platform to foster unity and cohesion among the locals.
The 2019 Hogbetsotso festival is slated for Saturday, 2 November 2019 at Hogbe Park, Anloga, Volta Region. It will be observed by 36 communities within Anlo.
