Former Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has dismissed claims by Bodi MP and Deputy Minister-designate for Trade and Industry, Sampson Ahi, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government failed to construct any roads in the Bodi constituency.

Expressing shock and disappointment, Asenso-Boakye described Ahi’s comments as misleading and untrue. The remarks were made during Ahi’s vetting before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, February 24, where he alleged that the Akufo-Addo administration had neither initiated nor completed any road projects in Bodi, suggesting that the constituency had been neglected despite previous promises.

Responding to these claims, Asenso-Boakye, who led the Roads and Highways Ministry under President Akufo-Addo, strongly refuted the assertions. “This is absolutely false, and I find it quite unfortunate for the Deputy Minister-designate to make such false claims. Atta Bokai Junction to Bodi was completed by the Akufo-Addo administration. The road leading from Bodi to Akontombra is currently under construction. In fact, it is partly tarred, and the rest of the works are ongoing,” he stated.

His response underscores the ongoing debate over infrastructure development and the extent to which government projects have been delivered in various constituencies.
