Team Enyiresi has won the 2023 edition of the Atiwa East MP’s Easter Gala.
They entered the record books of the constituency on Monday, April 10, after beating Adasawase 4-3 on penalties to win the three-week competition.
The champions received medals and a ¢5,000 cash reward for winning the competition. The runners-up also got Gh¢3,000 while the third-place team, Bebome bagged ¢2,000. Anyinam Zongo also placed fourth and took home ¢1,500.
New Jejeti was named the ‘Fair Play Team’ while Dickson Okyere from Enyiresi was adjudged the best player of the tournament for his impressive performance. He took home a cash amount of ¢1,000 and souvenirs.
The players also received jerseys and other souvenirs donated by former Black Star Coach James Kwasi Appiah who was the special guest of honour.
The competition which started on Saturday, March 18 ended on Monday, April 10 at Anyinam. This is the ninth edition of the annual event organised by the MP and Deputy Finance Minister, Abena Osei-Asare.
It also climaxed the Easter period, a cultural holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Some 28 communities took part in the keenly contested gala.
The lawmaker in her speech expressed her commitment to uniting the community through such events and also to unearth talents. She used the occasion to advise the youth to be disciplined and desist from social vices.
Also in attendance were the Chief of Anyinam, National and Regional Party Executives and the DCE.
