Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has urged the leadership of the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to work tirelessly in achieving and surpassing fiscal and revenue targets.
In a meeting with key officials from these agencies, Dr. Forson emphasized the importance of fiscal discipline in driving national development. He called on them to perform their duties with excellence and to leave a lasting legacy of financial stability for the nation.
A key objective outlined by Dr. Forson is to reduce Ghana’s inflation rate to single digits, setting a target of 8%. He plans to achieve this goal through strong fiscal policies, focusing primarily on controlling government expenditure.
Furthermore, Dr. Forson aims to increase tax revenue from 13.8% of GDP to approximately 16.8%. This increase is part of his broader fiscal reforms, which include the elimination of the E-Levy and betting tax.
The Finance Minister also highlighted the vital role of the GRA in attaining the country’s economic objectives. He called for collaborative efforts to enhance revenue collection and improve management practices within the agency.
The government remains committed to strengthening public financial management and ensuring sustainable economic growth, Dr. Forson added.
