Big Blow: Ghana’s defensive midfielder Baba Iddrisu to miss World Cup through injury

Ghana’s holding midfielder Baba Iddrisu will not be at the World Cup in Qatar later this month after suffering in Spain with Real Mallorca.

The midfielder is a key member of Ghana’s coach Otto Addo’s team and is set to miss the global tournament in what has been a devastating blow for the player and country.

He limped off the field and was substituted at halftime in Real Mallorca’s 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga on Tuesday evening.

Dailymailgh.com understands that the midfielder who was a pivot in Ghana’s qualification will be able to recover on time to make the final squad

The defensive midfielder played a key role in Ghana’s qualification to the World Cup.

He played in both legs of the playoffs for Ghana when the Black Stars team eliminated arch rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria to book a place in the mundial which starts next Sunday

Ghana begin their World Cup campaign against Portugal on November 24, before facing South Korea four days later and concluding the group stage against Uruguay on December 2.
