Zambia sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Tanzania in their Group Stage encounter at the ongoing 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, thanks to a dramatic late goal—and a standout performance from Joseph Banda.

The Young Chipolopolo left it late, but their persistence paid off when a well-crafted move in the dying minutes resulted in the only goal of the match. Banda, who had been instrumental throughout the game, pulled the strings in midfield and was involved in the build-up to the winner.

Tanzania showed resilience for much of the match, defending deep and trying to hit on the counter. However, their efforts were undone by Zambia’s growing pressure in the final stages.

Joseph Banda was named Man of the Match after delivering a composed, creative, and tireless display. His vision and control helped Zambia dominate possession and carve out key chances, earning them a valuable three points to kick off their campaign.
