Covid-19: Ghana High Commission in London suspends issuance of visas

The Ghana High Commission in London has temporarily suspended all consular services following the outbreak of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) disease.

“Visa applicants who have already completed their online applications and been given appointments, but are yet to submit the said applications, are advised not to come to the High Commission as all appointments have been cancelled,” the High Commission said in a statement copied to Dailymailgh.com.

THE HIGH COMMISSION OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA LONDON PUBLIC NOTICE-SUSPENSION OF CONSULAR SERVICES

The High Commission of the Republic of Ghana wishes to inform the general public that due to the rapid spread of the Coronavirus (COVID 19) globally and in its efforts to assist the UK and Ghana Governments in their advisories to combat the spread of the virus, it has temporarily suspended the issuance of visas to Ghana effective Wednesday, 18th March, 2020.

2. Accordingly, the Mission will be operating by the following guidelines regarding visa applications until further notice:
i. Visa applicants who have paid the visa fee and submitted their applications to the High Commission as at 16th March 2020 may either request a refund of the visa fee or wait for their visas to be issued and mailed to them by the High Commission;

ii. Visa applicants who have already completed their online applications and been given appointments, but are yet to submit the said applications, are advised not to come to the High Commission as all appointments have been cancelled; and

iii. Requests for refunds of visa fees must be accompanied by proof of prior submission of said applications to the High Commission (e.g. collection slip, text message or email from the High Commission indicating receipt);

In the case of the issue of passports to Ghanaian citizens, only passport applications with PROOF OF EMERGENCY will be processed at a considerably reduced schedule in order to protect the safety and promote the welfare and well-being of our citizens and staff. 4.
