Minister of State at the Interior Ministry, Bryan Acheampong, says Ghana’s security agencies are ready for the upcoming general elections in the country.

The elections which are expected to be hotly contested between the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been scheduled for December 7, 2020.

Acheampong who’s also the MP for Abetifi constituency in the Eastern Region stated that the personnel required to protect every Ghanaian during the conduct of the elections are ready.

“I stand here today to assure you that the government of Ghana has the men to protect you (the Ghanaian people) during, before, and after the 2020 elections. We have the men,” he said at a rally at Anyinam in the Atiwa East constituency in the Eastern Region as part of President Akufo-Addo’s two-day tour of the Region.

“The days of intimidation in Ghana are over. This is a solemn promise I am making to all Ghanaians. We are well prepared for the election, the military is prepared, the Police are ready, the Immigration Service is ready, and the Prisons Service is ready…all the security agencies are prepared to ensure the safety of every Ghanaian. To this end, don’t be afraid when you step out to vote,” Acheampong declared.
