Sampson Ahi, the Deputy Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, has pledged to facilitate the establishment of a cocoa processing company in the Western North Region before the end of his tenure.
During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Ahi underscored the critical role of industrialization in fostering economic growth and job creation, particularly in agriculturally rich areas.
He noted that this initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to enhance local production, add value to raw materials, and generate employment.
“As captured in the NDC manifesto, we will embark on industrialization. I will be happy to see that by the end of my tenure, we will have a cocoa processing company so that we will have cocoa beans processed. I will also look at other areas where they have a competitive advantage with regards to farm produce so that many factories can be established for many of the farm produce to be processed,” he stated.
