Diana Owusu-Kyereko: Jumia Ghana names new CEO

Jumia Group has named Diana Owusu-Kyereko as the first CEO of Jumia Ghana. She is taking over from Ore Odusanya who has been country manager of the marketplace and e-commerce site since 2016. 

Diana is charged with the responsibility of sustaining the company’s image, breaking new grounds and creating sustainable impact in the Ghanaian marketplace.

Diana began her journey with Jumia in 2013, where she has climbed her way up. She started as manager in the mobile and tablet category before becoming in 2016 the Director of mobile and tablet section of Jumia Africa, overseeing at least 14 markets. She was then appointed as Chief Commercial Officer of Jumia Kenya before her new role.

Prior to Jumia, she was general manager at Ringier Ghana. She also managed an online discount startup, tisu.com.gh. 

“Congratulations Diana Owusu-Kyereko, for taking up the role of CEO in Jumia Ghana. Women empowerment is one of Jumia’s focus on bridging the gender gap in the workplace,” the company stated in its official announcement.

According to Jumia Africa, the group has one of the highest percentage (40%) of female employees in leadership positions such as managers, MDs, and CEOs. Juliet Anammah, Chief executive of its largest operation  – Jumia Nigeria, is also female. She rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange announcing the oversubscribed IPO of the company.
