A police operation targeting illegal drug activities in Dominase, located in the Gomoa East District of Ghana’s Central Region, escalated into violence, leaving one civilian dead and three police officers injured.
The clash occurred during a security operation aimed at disrupting a suspected drug trafficking ring in the community. According to initial reports, officers from the Ghana Police Service faced intense resistance from individuals believed to be involved in the drug trade.
Amid the confrontation, a civilian—allegedly linked to the suspects—was killed. Authorities have not yet disclosed the names of the deceased or the injured officers.
Police sources confirm that three officers sustained varying injuries and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Although an official statement from the Ghana Police Service is still pending, local residents have reported a heavy security presence in the area as investigations continue into the incident.
