Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, has expressed strong confidence that the committee’s proposals will help President John Dramani Mahama in his mission to revitalize Ghana’s economy amid ongoing global uncertainty.
During the presentation of the committee’s final report at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, June 4, Dr. Yamson emphasized that the recommendations were not only relevant but timely, given the country’s current economic challenges.
“Your Excellency, we believe these recommendations will prove valuable as you lead efforts to reset the Ghanaian economy,” he said.
He pointed out that the committee considered the broader context of global instability, noting that the recommendations focus on strengthening the nation’s economic resilience through increased self-dependence.
“In times like these, when the world is facing serious disruptions and volatility, the best path forward is building a resilient and self-reliant economy,” Dr. Yamson added.
He also revealed that some of the suggestions had already been factored into the 2025 national budget and are beginning to yield promising results.
“We are pleased to see that even before this official presentation, several key ideas from our work were incorporated into the 2025 budget and are already making a positive impact,” he noted.
The National Economic Dialogue was initiated to encourage broad-based discussions and provide policy direction to guide Ghana’s long-term economic reform and development.
