Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effia, has criticized the Majority Caucus in Parliament for its lack of dedication to advancing government business.

His comments come after multiple parliamentary sittings were suspended by Speaker Alban Bagbin due to the House’s failure to meet the required quorum for conducting government affairs.

Concerns Over Low Attendance

In an exclusive interview with Channel One News, Boamah-Nyarko expressed frustration over the persistent low attendance among Majority MPs, stressing that their inconsistency is obstructing the smooth running of government activities.

“The Majority is not doing enough to facilitate government business. Their attendance has not been consistent,” he stated.

Praise for the Minority Caucus

While criticizing the Majority, Boamah-Nyarko commended the Minority Caucus for its cooperation and dedication to ensuring accountability in governance.

*”They have 183 plus four independent members making 187, and yet they have difficulty in raising 91 members to form a quorum. So what is happening?

“They themselves are not promoting and helping government business, but we want to be constructive. We want to make sure that we hold government only accountable, and that is the mandate we have as a Minority,”* he added.
