The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will occupy the first position on the ballot paper for the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) takes the eighth spot.
This arrangement was determined during the balloting process at the Electoral Commission’s office in Accra, Friday.
The finalized list of positions is as follows:
Earlier today, the Electoral Commission (EC) approved 13 candidates to contest the elections after a thorough vetting process.
Candidates include those from major political parties and several independent contenders.
However, the process was not without tension. Controversy arose when Dr. Omane Boamah, Director of Elections for the NDC, raised concerns about a unique feature on one of the balls used during the initial balloting, potentially affecting the integrity of the process.
After a heated debate, the commission agreed to replace the ball and restart the process, resolving the issue after a 30-minute standoff.
