A circuit court in Kumasi has granted a ¢50,000 each bail with two sureties to be justified to the two siblings who brandished guns in a social media video.

The court presided over by His Honour Ebenezer Kwaku Ansah also ordered the two accused persons to report to the police CID every three days.

This was after Counsel for the accused persons pushed for their freedom when they appeared before the court Wednesday.

Prosecuting officer Chief Superintendent Kofi Blagodzi had told the court to remand the suspects. But that was shot down by the judge, citing illegality, after it emerged in court that the suspects had been in police custody for more than 48 hours.

The court consequently adjourned the case to July 7, 2021.

The duo, Emmanuel Dakora, 26 and Richard Suleimana 28 are facing the court for conspiracy to commit crime to wit publication of false news, publication of false news to cause fear and alarm and carrying offensive weapons.

They were captured in a viral social media video flaunting guns days after a police officer and a civilian were killed in a bullion van gun attack at Jamestown in Accra last week.

Their action sparked widespread outrage among the public prompting police action.

They were arrested at their Obuasi suburb and put before the court.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command had told the court that it is yet to establish the source of the videos.
