The Ghana Police Service has promoted four officers from the Western Central Regional Command in recognition of their exceptional professionalism, dedication, and swift response during a high-profile criminal case.
The promoted officers include No. 47459 G/Sgt. Fetus Gameli Kukuia, now elevated to the rank of Inspector; No. 52192 G/Cpl. Christian Asare and No. 52441 G/Cpl. Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, both promoted to Sergeants; and No. 59947 G/Const. Adam Yakubu, who now holds the rank of Lance Corporal.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), extended heartfelt congratulations to the officers. He emphasized that their promotions not only honor their individual achievements but also reflect the Service’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding excellence.
These officers played a critical role in the arrest of three armed suspects — Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab — at the Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong on April 30, 2025. The suspects were intercepted just a day after the brutal killing of five individuals at Asiyaw, near Nsawam.
Acting on their instincts and training, the officers stopped a Grand Bird Bus (registration number AS 4431 22) carrying the suspects. A search revealed a submachine gun and 21 rounds of ammunition concealed in the possession of Hakeem Imoro.
During questioning, Imoro disclosed that the firearm belonged to his superior, Samuel Atsu Forson, also known as Alanyo, who was already in custody in connection with the Asiyaw murders.
Subsequent investigations confirmed that the suspects were attempting to flee and were directly involved in the killings, making the officers’ swift action critical to the case.
The Ghana Police Service commended the team for their alertness and professionalism, reiterating its dedication to recognizing officers who go above and beyond the call of duty.
