Franco Estate tackles housing deficit in Ghana with affordable houses

The management of Franco Estate has inaugurated newly-built affordable houses at Ayigbe Park, Ofankor Barrier in the Greater Accra region.

This is expected to contribute to the reduction of the housing deficit in Ghana.

Solomon Bonney, Manager of Franco Estate, said the houses “are affordable and available for sale.”

He said” there is a limited number available.”

Recently, Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Ms Barbara Asher Ayisi, noted that the housing was deficits in Ghana was increasing hence the need for stakeholders in the real estate sector to make their houses affordable for Ghanaians.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 17th International Building, Construction, and Property Exhibition at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Thursday 3rd October, 2019, she said: “Ghana’s housing deficit is estimated at about 2million and my ministry is working assiduously to reduce this gap to the barest minimum.

“This we know is the collective responsibility of Government and the Private Sector.”

She added: “We therefore need the collaboration of various organized professional bodies in the building and construction industry to help fight this menace.

“I will like to use this opportunity to reiterate the significance of all stakeholders in the building industry as well as exhibitors in playing their respective roles in the delivery of construction projects in a way that would sustain our environment and ensure the sustainable utilization of oval building materials.”

Meanwhile, Franco Estate has inaugurated a Bar and Restaurant located at Ayigbe Park, Ofankpr Barrier.

The facility has since its inception been entertaining patrons and other customers with live English Premier League matches as well as games in the Spanish La Liga and the German Bundesliga.

The state-of-the-art facility which also has a swimming pool was inaugurated earlier this month (December, 2019.)

It serves continental and various local dishes including banku and tilapia, Omotuo and Groundnut soup, Rice and Stew, Jollof rice, and all kinds of drinks and beverages.

Mr Bonney explained that the facility operates throughout the week.

He said it opens 10 AM and closes at 12AM daily.

He entreated event organizers, couples about to be engaged and others to patronize the centre for their events in order to get value for money.

“You can all come and organize your events here,” he said.

He further revealed that in the not-too-distant-future, the management will inaugurate a guest house.

“This will take place early next year,” he said.
