The police have announced a GhC10,000 reward to “any person who gives credible information” leading to the arrest of alleged robbers who killed a policewoman at a checkpoint.

“The Police Administration is offering a reward of GH010,000.00 to any person who gives credible information that will lead to their arrest. Persons with information about the suspected criminals are also encouraged to inform Police at Police Stations nearest to them or through the following Police emergency numbers: 0299200331, 191 and 18555,” a statement said.

The robbers, dressed in military uniforms, seized two weapons belonging to the peacemakers.

A combined team of officers from the criminal investigation, intelligence and national operations department has been dispatched to Tamale, where the incident took place.

“Occupants of a saloon car, all of them believed to be armed and dressed in a military-like uniform, failed to obey the signal of police officers at a snap check point on the Kumbungu road in Tamale. Instead, they shot and killed a police woman who signaled them to stop, after which they bolted,” a police statement said.

Meanwhile, the Acting Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, Mr James Oppong Boanuh, is in the Northern regional capital, Tamale August 1.
