Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has been officially appointed as the 2nd Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced Okraku’s appointment during a press conference held in Accra on Saturday. This marks a significant step in Okraku’s leadership journey, following his unopposed election onto the CAF Executive Committee in March.

President Motsepe nominated Okraku for the position, and his nomination received full approval from the CAF Executive Committee during their meeting in Accra.

With this new role, Okraku joins a refreshed leadership team at CAF. Morocco’s Faouzi Lekjaa has been appointed as the First Vice President, replacing Senegal FA President Augustine Senghor, while Okraku takes over from Ahmed Yahya. Gabon’s Pierre-Alain Mounguengui has been named 3rd Vice President, representing Central Africa. His grassroots experience and diplomatic skills are seen as vital for better integrating Central Africa into CAF’s mainstream activities.

Bestine Kazadi Ditabala from DR Congo makes history as the Fourth Vice President. A lawyer and football administrator, Ditabala’s appointment reflects CAF’s strong commitment to promoting gender equality and inclusiveness in football leadership.

Completing the team is Mozambique’s Feizal Sidat, appointed as the Fifth Vice President. Sidat brings valuable leadership experience from his time as the President of the Mozambican Football Federation and is expected to represent Southern Africa effectively.

The appointment of these five leaders showcases the rich diversity within African football. Their experience and passion are expected to drive CAF’s new vision under Dr. Motsepe’s leadership — one that aims to ensure that no region or group is left behind in the growth and development of African football.
