The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) has commemorated Ghana’s 68th Independence Anniversary with a large-scale clean-up exercise in Kumasi’s central business district.

The initiative, spearheaded by Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene, aimed to promote environmental cleanliness and highlight the importance of proper waste management.

The RCC collaborated with the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and received logistical support from Zoomlion Ghana Limited to ensure the success of the exercise.

The event saw participation from a wide range of groups, including SHS cadet corps from various senior high schools, military personnel, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Prisons Service.

Volunteers actively engaged in clearing waste, sweeping streets, and sensitizing the public on the need to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Organizers emphasized that such initiatives are crucial in reinforcing good sanitation practices and fostering community involvement in keeping Kumasi clean.

The clean-up exercise forms part of the broader activities lined up to celebrate Ghana’s independence in the Ashanti Region, with a renewed call for citizens to take collective responsibility for their surroundings.
