Ghanaians are set to benefit from a special Independence Day data bundle package secured by the government under the directive of President John Dramani Mahama.
The package, which includes all three major telecom networks—MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana, and AT Ghana—aims to make internet access more affordable.
As part of this initiative, the telecom companies have agreed to offer a GHS10 bundle that provides 6GB of data, a significant increase from the usual 1GB offering at the same price.
Typically, on holidays, customers receive 3GB for the same amount, making this package a notable enhancement for users across the country.
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam George disclosed this in a Facebook post on Wednesday (6 March).
He said the move “highlights our commitment as a government to build the enablers for a truly digitalized Ghana, offering the vast opportunities of an interconnected world to Ghanaians right in the comfort of their homes.”
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations is expected to unveil a roadmap outlining short, medium, and long-term strategies for achieving a sustained reduction in data prices.
The government believes that affordable internet access will drive economic growth, enhance education, and improve communication nationwide.
The Independence Day bundle is available to all subscribers of MTN, Telecel, and AT Ghana, marking a significant step toward digital inclusivity in the country.
