Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has expressed concern over the repeated rejection of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) nominees, warning that such delays could hinder development efforts in the affected districts.

Her remarks came after the Ada East District nominee failed to secure the required two-thirds majority vote during a confirmation process held on May 8, 2025.

Addressing the media after the vote, Minister Ocloo emphasized the importance of timely confirmations, urging nominees to engage more proactively with assembly members to secure support.

“Postponing the confirmation process only slows down development,” she said. “Many initiatives have already begun, and with a confirmed DCE in place, there’s a better chance of lobbying for opportunities, including employment for some assembly members.”

She noted that in the absence of an official DCE, administrative processes are often routed through district coordinators or other officials, resulting in avoidable delays.

Minister Ocloo called on all stakeholders to prioritize the progress of their communities by supporting the confirmation of qualified nominees who can drive local development agendas forward.
