I didn’t get GFA job because I campaigned for Kurt Okraku – Asante Twum

Ace Sports Journalist Henry Asante Twum does not believe his appointment as Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Head was because he campaigned for Kurt Okraku.

Asante Twum was appointed as the new head of the GFA’s communications department last week following the surprise resignation of Tamimu Issah.

Many believe his appointment is a reward for the key role he played during the campaign period. Asante Twum was the spokesperson for Kurt Okraku’s campaign team.

However, in his first interview since his appointment, Asante Twum insists his appointment was purely based on merit.

“I would say that the president believes in me, I would say that I have worked with him for five years and he knows that I understand his way and his style of work and he knows that I am someone who can also bring quality to the work at the FA. I don’t want to think that it is because of the role I played [in the elections] because I wasn’t the only person who worked in that team,” he told Joy Sports.

He added that “The Game Changer team had a lot of people but I don’t want to believe that all of them have been given appointments.”

“My brother Ameenu Shadow at the moment does not work for the FA. Derrick Okraku and all were members of the Game Changer team but they are not occupying an official position at the FA. It is about competence, it is about belief and it is about the fact that maybe the Exco thinks I have something in me that can be useful.”
