All 24 members who attended an Assembly meeting on Thursday (July 14) endorsed the President’s nominee for Juaben Municipality, Omane Aboagye.
He secured 100% ‘Yes’ votes after a tensed election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
A new face for the Presiding Member slot, Osei Tutu contested unopposed, after two contestants Joseph Asare and Kwadwo Sarpong failed to secure a two-thirds majority of the votes for a third time.
He won after securing 79.3% of the votes.
Mr. Omane Aboagye, an Assemblyman for the New Koforidua Electoral Area, takes charge as MCE for the area following the rejection of Alexander Sarfo Kantanka.
Kantanka is facing a High Court after he was captured demanding monies he paid to facilitate his endorsement in November 2021.
He has been charged with 29 counts of corruption related offences.
