A student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), associated with Unity Hall (Conti), is currently receiving medical care after being stabbed several times during a violent incident at a New Patriotic Party (NPP) “Thank You” tour event in the Ashanti Region.

The altercation took place on Tuesday at the Pentecost Church in Bantama, where the event was being held.

Reports indicate that the student was part of a Jama group from Unity Hall that had been invited by supporters of Kennedy Agyapong, former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, to energize the gathering.

Eyewitnesses say that during the event, a wealthy associate of Kennedy Agyapong gifted money to the Jama group. However, the situation turned chaotic when a group of heavily built men, allegedly armed and linked to the NPP, appeared unexpectedly and seized the money.

This triggered a confrontation between the Jama group and the armed men. Amid the chaos, gunshots were reportedly fired, and one of the Jama group members sustained multiple stab wounds.

The injured student was quickly taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s emergency unit for treatment.

Kennedy Agyapong’s team has reported the matter to the Kumasi Central Police, but no arrests have been made so far.
