Ghanaian football powerhouses Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have announced plans to jointly submit a proposal to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) aimed at improving security in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the two clubs said the initiative seeks to make the league safer and more attractive to fans.
The move follows a high-level meeting between Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) and representatives from Hearts of Oak’s board and management.
The decision was prompted by the tragic death of Kotoko supporter Nana Pooley, who lost his life following crowd disturbances during his team’s clash with Nsoatreman FC on February 2.
Both clubs pledged to work with the GFA and other stakeholders to implement stricter security measures at league venues.
