The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has served notice of a total withdrawal of services, effective Monday, September 21, 2020.

This was contained in a joint letter signed by the President of the Association Perpetual Ampofo, the President of the Ghana Physician Assistants Association Emmanuel Yaw Appiah, and the President of the Ghana Association Frederick Kwame Kporxah; following the government’s stance on the negotiation of the condition of service for nurses and midwives.

“All nurses, midwives, physician assistants (PAs), and certified registered anaesthesists (CRAs) in all public institutions are directed to withdraw their services from 8.00 am on Monday, 21st September 2020.”

A letter dated September 9, 2020, as cited in the notice, informed all relevant stakeholders about the status of their negotiations with the government and possible actions of the Association and its allies such as the Ghana Physician Assistants Association and Ghana Association of Certified Registered Anaesthetists.

The statement meanwhile urged the general public to seek alternative forms of healthcare during the period.
