President John Dramani Mahama has assured the people of the Volta Region that his government will prioritize their contributions and talents in appointments, emphasizing that the process will be based on merit, competence, and regional balance.

This reassurance follows the vandalism of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in Ho by individuals allegedly protesting the perceived exclusion of a Ho Central indigene from the President’s recent ministerial appointments.

During his visit to Ho as part of his “Thank You” tour, President Mahama acknowledged the expectations for appointments from the Volta Region and reassured residents of their inclusion in national governance.

“I also recognize the anticipation of appointments from this region, and as has been said, so far so good. Let me assure you that your contributions and talents have not been overlooked,” he stated.

The President highlighted the principles guiding his appointments, saying, “Appointments will be guided by principles of merit, competence, regional balance, gender equity, and availability to serve.”

He further reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the Volta Region.

“I do not doubt that the people of the Volta Region possess the resources and will to play pivotal roles in shaping the future of our nation. The Volta Region has long been a victim of unfulfilled promises, but as I said, I assure you that this era of neglect will end under this administration,” he assured.

The President’s comments were well-received by residents, who expressed optimism that the region would receive greater attention under his leadership. Many saw his visit as a step toward renewing trust and addressing long-standing developmental challenges.
