President John Dramani Mahama has restated his unwavering dedication to fulfilling the promises made under his administration’s 120-day social contract with Ghanaians, emphasizing a swift and sincere approach to delivering reforms aimed at national renewal.
In a national address to commemorate the completion of his first 120 days in office, the President described the early months of his government as a period of intensive action and reform. He referred to the efforts as the beginning of “Resetting Ghana,” a bold agenda aimed at creating a more inclusive, fair, and accountable society.
President Mahama highlighted a range of initiatives undertaken since assuming office, noting, “From forming a lean government and establishing a robust code of conduct to taking decisive steps to scrap burdensome taxes, initiating inquiries into past wrongdoings, launching major job creation programmes, tackling illegal mining, reviving our environment, promoting our tourism and export sectors, streamlining scholarships, supporting vulnerable populations, and holding our security agencies accountable – the foundation for ‘Resetting Ghana’ and ‘Building the Ghana we want together’ is being laid with speed and determination.”
He stressed that these efforts are not just political slogans or ceremonial achievements, but a genuine departure from past practices.
“These actions are not merely checkboxes on a list; they signify a fundamental shift in how government operates – with transparency, accountability, efficiency, and a profound sense of urgency for the well-being of every Ghanaian,” President Mahama declared.
Reiterating his personal commitment to accountability and results, he affirmed, “I take my promises seriously. My word is my bond!”
The President’s message served both as a report on progress made and a clear signal of his intention to continue pushing forward with reforms that impact the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.
