President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a nationwide “Thank You Tour” beginning Friday, January 24, with the Volta Region as the first stop. This initiative reflects the President’s gratitude to Ghanaians for their unwavering support and trust during the 2024 general elections.
A statement from the Presidency, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, emphasized that the tour is not only a gesture of appreciation but also an opportunity to strengthen ties between the President and citizens across the nation.
The Volta Region, a key stronghold of support during the elections, has been chosen to launch this significant journey. The event in the region will feature a grand durbar, bringing together chiefs, queen mothers, religious leaders, opinion leaders, labour union representatives, and key figures from the informal sector. This vibrant gathering will celebrate the diversity and strength of the region while highlighting the vital role its citizens have played in Ghana’s democratic progress.
Describing the event, the statement noted, “This colourful and unifying event aims to showcase the collective strength and diversity of the region while celebrating the critical role citizens have played in Ghana’s democratic and developmental journey.”
The timing of the tour comes as President Mahama’s leadership continues to receive widespread acclaim for his decisive actions since taking office. Within just two weeks, he made history by becoming the first Ghanaian leader to announce a complete cabinet, demonstrating his readiness to fulfill campaign promises and address national priorities.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu further extended an open invitation to all Ghanaians to join the “Thank You Tour” with enthusiasm. He described it as “a special moment for the nation to come together and celebrate its collective achievements while reaffirming its commitment to unity and development.”
The tour promises to be a platform for fostering national unity and deepening the bond between the President and the people, reflecting Ghana’s democratic ideals and aspirations for growth.
