A 33-year-old mobile money vendor, Augustine Mensah, has been shot and killed by unknown assailants at Manso-Asamang in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.
Reports indicate that Mensah had already closed for the day on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, but received a call from a customer requesting a transaction. After attending to the request, he was attacked and shot while heading home.
A passerby discovered him and rushed him to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The tragic killing has left residents in shock, especially as it comes just two weeks after Patricia Nimako, another mobile money vendor in her early thirties, was shot and killed at her shop in Krofrom, Kumasi. Despite her burial on February 27, 2025, her family continues to demand justice, as no arrests have been made in connection with her murder.
Police have launched an investigation into Mensah’s killing.
Confirming the incident to the media (Citi News) , a community leader, Stephen Agyei, stated that Mensah’s body has been deposited at St. Martin’s Hospital morgue for preservation and an autopsy.
