Asante Kotoko have reached the final of the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Berekum Chelsea in the semifinal played at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday.
The first half saw both sides battling for control, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. After the break, Kotoko came out with more purpose and finally broke the deadlock thanks to a composed finish from Albert Amoah, which turned out to be the only goal of the match.
The victory puts Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito on the verge of winning his first trophy with the club. His team showed strong tactical discipline and managed the game well after taking the lead.
Berekum Chelsea, led by former Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu, tried to fight back but couldn’t break through Kotoko’s solid defense, bringing an end to their FA Cup journey.
Kotoko will now take on Golden Kick, a lower-tier club, in the final as they aim to win the cup and secure a place in next season’s CAF competitions.
