President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to running the leanest and most efficient government in Ghana’s history.
During a swearing-in ceremony for six newly approved ministers at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 22, the President emphasized his decision to cap the total number of ministers at 60. So far, 42 ministers have been nominated, with 18 additional nominations expected to follow.
“As the ministers are approved by Parliament and as they are sworn in, I will proceed to name deputy ministers for some of the ministries, which will bring the total number of ministers to 60,” he stated.
President Mahama also assured Ghanaians of his administration’s commitment to enhanced efficiency, saying, “As I promised the people of Ghana, this will make this government Ghana’s leanest and most efficient government ever.”
This approach reflects the President’s vision for a streamlined government focused on improving productivity and ensuring effective governance. The reduced size of the ministerial team is expected to promote operational efficiency while lessening the administrative burden on the state.
The swearing-in ceremony marked another step toward fulfilling the President’s pledge to prioritize good governance and service delivery for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
