The founder of Heaven Way Church, Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been remanded into lawful custody for the next three days.

The former fetish priestess was arrested on Sunday (9 October 2022) over allegations of money doubling scam levelled against her by some members of the public.

She pleaded not guilty when she made her first court appearance on Monday on the charges of fraudulent advertisement and six counts of defrauding by false pretenses.

The Circuit Court judge Samuel Bright Acquah refused her bail plea and remanded her until the next court appearance of 13 October 2022.

What we know so far

The police opened investigations into the alleged money doubling scam against the fetish priestess turned preacher on Saturday.

Some members of the Heaven Way Church in Accra are accusing their leader of duping them after she advertised on her TV programme that she will be doubling money during Friday’s all-night service.

“The investigation was initiated following reports that have come to the attention of the police on the matter,” the police said earlier.

“While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands”.
