Giant billboards of New Patriotic Party(NPP) Regional Chairman aspirant, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah have been removed, a statement from his camp said on Tuesday, citing a directive ahead of a delegates conference in the party’s stronghold this weekend.

A group known as Friends of Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah which is leading the charge also wants its well wishers to “abide by the part regulations on this conference by not bringing T-shirts and any other fashionable item branded with the image of Chairman Odeneho to the conference”.

“It is hoped that our collective effort will make this conference successful and that we will collectively uphold the image of the Party now and after the conference”, the group said.

The New Patriotic Party has banned its members from advocating for individual aspirants, parliamentary and presidential, at the upcoming National Annual Delegates Conference.

In a press release signed by the Director of Communications, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, the party stated that though they cherish the competition, the conference is a time of renewal aimed at enhancing party unity.

Hence, “Prior to and during the Conference on 18th to 20th December, 2021, no billboards and or signboards, banners or any kind of outdoor signage with the images and or names of individual members, with or without the consent of the individual, shall be acceptable.”

“This applies to the area within the Greater Kumasi Metropolis (where the annual conference will be held). All such displays, if put up already, should be removed,” parts of the statement read.

Furthermore, no t-shirts, flyers, brochures, and or souvenirs, branded and or embossed with the portraits and names of individuals, shall be allowed within the precincts of the Conference, including but not limited to places of accommodation for delegates,” Mr. Asamoa wrote.

Checks by dailymailgh.com indicate that billboards mounted by the camp of Odeneho Kwaku Appiah at Amakom, Anloga junction, Tech, Oforikrom, and other major streets within Kumasi have been removed.

A position like the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship of the NPP has already split delegates and supporters in the region.

Two persons, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah and Kwabena Owusu Aduomi are seeking to contest incumbent Bernard Antwi Boasiako also called Chairman Wontumi.
