A former MP for Asante-Mampong, Francis Addai-Nimoh, is appealing to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region, to enable him pick nomination forms to contest in the upcoming primaries.

Mr Addai-Nimoh is set to contest incumbent Member of Parliament, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong —as the party holds elections on April 25, 2020.

But in a letter sighted by Dailymailgh and addressed to the party, Mr Addai-Nimoh said attempts to purchase a copy of the Parliamentary nomination forms at the constituency level has been unsuccessful.

“This appeal has become necessary because I am being denied access and obstructed to purchase the said forms at the Mampong Constituency Level of the party”, parts of the letter stated.

Mr Addai-Nimoh further alleged in the letter that he was told by the Mampong Constituency Chairman, Mr Luther Asare that all three copies had been sold instantly upon receipt of the forms in Kumasi “without recourse to the Constituency Parliamentary Election Committee (CPEC)”.

He also revealed that a call to the Chairman of the Constituency Council of Elders, Mr Gyasi Nimarko, could not get the matter addressed.

“He [Mr Gyasi Nimarko] informed me that he did not instruct the Constituency Chairman to sell the 3 copies of the forms meant for the constituency. He also said once the forms had been sold he could not take any step to obtain additional forms from Regional Secretariat to enable prospective aspirants purchase same”, parts of the letter stated.

This development comes in the wake of widespread agitations from potential candidates —who accuse the leadership of the party of scheming to prevent potential candidates from contesting sitting Members of Parliament.
