The Ghana Police Service has formally charged Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, with two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace.

This follows his arrest after he alleged that former President John Mahama wanted to stage a coup in Ghana.

He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, according to a police statement.

Below is a copy of a statement issued by the police on Mr. Baffoe’s arrest.

Abronye DC was invited early today to answer questions related to his claims against the former president. But in the statement issued by the police, the NPP regional chairman failed to substantiate his claims.

He is alleged to have made the comments on Happy FM, an Accra-based radio station.
