A 16-year-old Form Two student of Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS) has been arrested by the Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command for unlawful possession of a locally made firearm.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, after school authorities conducted a routine search of the student dormitories around 9:30 a.m. During the operation, the weapon was discovered in the student’s possession. He was immediately detained and handed over to the police for further questioning.

In his initial statement to police investigators, the student alleged that the firearm belonged to his stepfather, identified as Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi. Following this claim, the stepfather was arrested the next day, Thursday, May 15, 2025.

Both the student and his stepfather have since been granted police enquiry bail and are scheduled to report back to the police on Monday, May 19, 2025, to assist with ongoing investigations.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command’s Head of Public Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo, confirmed the development in an official statement issued on Sunday, May 18.
