The Appointments Committee of Parliament is scheduled to vet five ministerial nominees today, Tuesday, January 28, as part of the approval process for individuals selected by President John Dramani Mahama to fill key government positions.
The vetting sessions will commence at 9:00 am with Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, nominated for the position of Minister of Defence. Following this, at 11:00 am, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, MP, will be assessed for the role of Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives.
In the afternoon, the committee will vet Adjei Kenneth Gilbert, the Minister-designate for Works, Housing, and Water Resources, at 1:00 pm. The proceedings will continue at 3:00 pm with Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, MP, who has been nominated as Minister for the Greater Accra Region. The day’s activities will conclude at 5:00 pm with the vetting of Charity Gardiner, nominated for the position of Minister for the Ahafo Region.
This vetting process is an essential part of assessing the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and ability to effectively perform in their designated roles. It is also a significant step in strengthening the leadership team of President Mahama’s administration and promoting good governance in the country.
