Palm wine tapper kills pregnant wife, son over infidelity

Police at Goaso have arrested a 46-year-old palm wine tapper, Kwame Acheampong, for allegedly killing his pregnant wife and a 1-year-old son, at Kokofu, a farming Community near Nkaseim in the Asutifi South District of the Ahafo region.

Acheampong has been accusing his 30-year-old wife, Akua Safia, of cheating on him and Kwabena Asiedu of not being his son for sometime now.

Goaso District Police Commander, ASP Richard Hornuvo, who confirmed the incident to Success News said the incident happened Sunday, June 30, 2019 at about 6:20am.

“This morning, around 6:20am we received information a palm wine tapper called Kwame Acheampong, 46 years old, had murdered his wife and his one-year-old son, the wife is called Akua Safia 30 years and Kwabena Asiedu, so when we received that information, we went to the scene and we saw the lady lying in a pool of blood and her head and left arm and multiple cut on her body and as for the son his throat was slashed with a knife,” the commander narrated.

ASP Hornuvo said the suspect was attacked and injured by community folks but has been taken to Goaso Government Hospital for treatment.

He said the suspect has so far been telling police his wife is cheating on him.

So far, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at Goaso Government mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
