The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service, has launched an investigation into a fire outbreak that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools.
The facility is significant because it houses the Ablekuma North Constituency ballot boxes.
In an official statement, the Police assured the public that anyone responsible for the fire would face arrest and prosecution. “We urge all citizens to remain calm as investigations are ongoing into the cause of the fire,” the statement emphasized.
This incident follows heightened tensions stemming from recent post-election disturbances. The Police revealed that, so far, 132 suspects have been arrested across the country in connection with these incidents.
Breaking down the figures, the Police explained: “Of these, 45 have been remanded in custody, 71 are on police enquiry bail, and 16 are on court bail while legal proceedings continue.”
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to upholding peace and stability during this period. They also called on the public to fully cooperate with law enforcement as the investigations continue.
