A policeman has been accused of having sex with a female inmate at the Nkanfoa Police Station and helping her escape from the facility, dailymailgh.com has learned.

The incident was said to have happened at about 2 a.m., on Saturday, September 25.

A police statement said Lance Corporal Isaac Apomah entered the female cell and performed the act with Theresah Forson, who was awaiting her sentencing for an offence yet to be disclosed by the police.

Theresah was then asked by the policeman to escape from custody, the statement revealed.

A serious manhunt was launched by the police after its attention was drawn to the issue at about 4 a.m., local time.

Luck however eluded the convict when her family captured and brought her back to the Cape Coast Metro Police Station, for fear of the law.

Lance Corporal Isaac Apomah was immediately arrested and detained to assist police investigations.

Police sources say plans are far advanced to put them before court.
