President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice is currently pursuing 33 corruption-related cases involving former government officials.
These cases are the result of investigations conducted by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team, an anti-corruption task force established by President Mahama shortly after his victory in the 2024 general elections. The task force was mandated to gather credible information on suspected acts of corruption—especially those linked to the previous administration—and refer them to relevant state authorities for further action.
The ORAL Team, made up of five high-profile figures known for their commitment to transparency and accountability, is chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu. The other members include former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, retired Police Commissioner Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, renowned lawyer Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Raymond Archer.
After completing its investigations, the ORAL Team submitted its report and evidence to the Office of the Attorney-General for legal review and potential prosecution.
During a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, President Mahama disclosed that legal proceedings will soon commence in many of the cases.
> “We set up the ORAL Committee, and they have identified 33 cases, which were handed over to the Attorney General,” the President said. “We have created special investigative teams to look into each one. Some of them involve evidence of acquiring property through illicit means. A number of cases are now ready for prosecution, while others are already before the courts or are being prepared.”
President Mahama reaffirmed his government’s dedication to fighting corruption and restoring public trust through accountability and legal due process.
