Robbers search woman’s genital with torchlight for money

A gang of seven robbers in the Fanteakwa North district of the Eastern region rained terror on commuters Wednesday dawn by killing one and searching a woman’s vagina with torchlight for money.

According to local reports, the robbers attacked the vehicles mostly occupied by traders on the Begoro to Ahomahomasu road. They robbed them of their belongings.

“They beat us mercilessly.One of the robbers removed the pants of a woman, used torchlight to search her private part if she was hiding some money having taken ghc400 from her,” Starrfm.com.gh quoted one of the victims to have said.

A police patrol team arrived at the scene late.

The injured traders have been taken to the Begoro Government Hospital, the report added.

Bullion Van attack

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a police officer at Asempaneye in the Juaboso District of the Western North region on Tuesday.

Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Commander ASP Peter Abillah confirmed the arrest to DailymailGh.com Tuesday.

The officer, G/Sgt Emmanuel Chikudor was part of a team onboard a Nissan Hardbody bullion van with registration number GT 9436-17 on escort to the Essam Branch of the Agricultural Development Bank at about 11am Tuesday.

The team came under attack after the gun-wielding men fired indiscriminately at them.

G/Sgt Chikudor was confirmed dead by medics after he sustained gunshot wounds in the head.

His remains has been deposited at the St. John of God Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Speaking to Dailymailgh.com ASP Abillah said the suspects have been detained in police custody and are assisting with investigations.

“The members of the community arrested three suspects and they have been handed over to the police. As I said we have intensified patrols to ward off criminals who will foment trouble in the region,” ASP Abilla said.

Joint Security Council Meeting

Meanwhile, it is gathered that a joint security council meeting is expected to be held over the development.

The meeting will bring Chief Executives of Sefwi Wiawso, Juaboso and Bia West Assemblies to find ways to resolve the growing insecurity in these adjoining areas.

“A joint security meeting is not out of place. A similar incident occurred at Bibiani but no life was lost so I will communicate with my other colleagues to know how best we can bring the situation understand control”, Sefwi Wiawso Chief Executive, Louis Owusu told Dailymailgh.com.
