Salam Mustapha, National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party members to remain united and avoid actions that could worsen internal tensions following recent controversies surrounding the party’s ongoing “Thank You” tour.
In an interview with Channel One Newsroom on Saturday, May 3, Mustapha acknowledged that internal disagreements are inevitable but urged for restraint and respectful communication in addressing them. “What I will rather ask is that we do not deepen the cracks. It is okay to disagree but we should also mind the language,” he stated, highlighting the need for civility and cohesion within the party.
His remarks follow increasing pressure from some quarters within the NPP to suspend the “Thank You” tour, particularly after Kennedy Agyapong, a former flagbearer hopeful, announced his withdrawal from the tour amid rising tensions.
Despite the challenges, Mustapha expressed confidence in the continuation of the tour. He noted that recent engagements in the Bono East and Savannah regions had been successful, indicating that the initiative was still on track.
The NPP now faces the critical task of maintaining internal unity while ensuring that the tour proceeds smoothly, as the party looks to strengthen its front ahead of future political activities.
